Penny Chic Inspired

Have you seen this blog yet? I love it. The girl who writes the blog buys all of the clothes at Walmart and styles them on her and her friends. Then she takes photos of everything to show us what we could be wearing from Walmart.

The Penny Chic blog really inspired me to buy cheaper clothes. I tend to buy my clothes at places like H&M, JCPenney, and NY&Co. Their clothes are low quality and get worn down easily AND they aren't always the cheapest to buy. I figured Walmart's clothes are probably of similar quality and just might cost less than H&M. So I went to check out Walmart today. And here's what I found:

That's my kitty Theodore in the pic. He's one of the kitties this blog is named after!

The other kitty that this blog is named after (Zeppelynn) is hiding behind my legs in this pic!

I was quite surprised by Walmart! I found some nice outfits. Everything shown in the above photos totaled $44.88, and that includes a jacket that I can wear with multiple outfits! I was also really excited to find the "love" necklace. It is very similar to the one I wanted to purchase at Tiffany's in NYC when I was there in August. Except Tiffany's version was a few hundred dollars and Walmart's was only $4.88. Score!

One thing that disappointed me about my Walmart is that they didn't seem to have all of the brands that Penny Chic finds at her Walmart stores. I didn't see any of the Normala clothes that Penny Chic writes about. Perhaps different Walmarts carry different clothing lines? My Walmart must be too midwestern to carry the more stylish lines. Nevertheless, I won't be afraid to consider Walmart as a place to shop for updating my wardrobe anymore.

Have you too been pleasantly surprised by the selection in Walmart's clothing department? Share photos of your Walmart purchased outfits!

Another new item on TZ's - the Ava bridal headband or sash

I listed a new item on my etsy shop today. This is a beautiful bridal rhinestone headband that could also be used as a bridal sash. I love how it has a dual purpose! This item is called the Ava and it features irridescent beading, Swarovski crystals/rhinestones, and ivory satin ties.

Go here to check it out in Ted Zeppelynn's etsy shop, to view more pictures, and to get the specific measurements.

New Year's Day Jerk Turkey Chili

My husband and I made a turkey yesterday for New Year's Eve. Today we used the leftover turkey to make Jerk (Chicken) Turkey Chili. The recipe called for chicken but we used turkey instead.

Ingredients:
1 T olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
3T chili powder
1 1/2 t dried thyme
1/2 t ground allspice
About 6 cups of shredded turkey (or 1 large rotisserie chicken, shredded)
1 qt. chicken broth (2 cans)
1 can (28 oz.) stewed tomatoes
1 can (16 oz) each black beans and small white beans, both undrained
2 T chopped pickled jalapenos (we forgot to chop ours and it still turned out ok)
3 large garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 oz. semisweet chocolate

1.) Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring until softened, about 5 minutes. Add chili powder, thyme, cinnamon and allspice. Cook, stirring constantly until fragrant, about 1 minute.
2.) Add chicken and stir to coat with spices. Add broth, tomatoes, beans, and jalapeƱos, bring to a boil, cover partially, reduce heat and simmer to blend flavors, about 20 minutes.
3.) Stir in garlic, cilantro and chocolate. Turn off heat, cover and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes to allow flavors to blend. Pack in individual portions. Makes 6-8 bowls, keeps 3 days and freezes well.

Oh boy was it delicious. I'm sure it was that last addition of chocolate that really made this chili. ;) Seriously though, I think it was the cilantro that made the dish. It made it taste like cajun or Cuban food. Both my husband and I loved the chili and we are excited to eat our leftovers for lunch at work and for future dinners.

The best part of this was that we were able to use our Le Creuset dutch oven that we got as a wedding gift last year. We had only used it once before this so it was good to finally put it to use again. Everything sure did cook up well in the pot and I loved listening to all of the food sizzling in it.

Here's the final, delicious product:

Christmas Cards from Shutterfly

Shutterfly is offering a Christmas Card Promotion to all bloggers in return for a review of their Holiday cards! I'm reviewing them in this post in order to get some free cards too!

I am excited to be using their photo card services this year for our Christmas cards. I really like their flat photo cards. This one with the festive green Christmas tree has to be my favorite!

Now I just have to figure out which photo we will use for the cards. I'm thinking if we get our Christmas tree up early enough we could snap a shot of us and the kitties in front of it! We do have a tripod that we purchased and have rarely used. This would be the perfect opportunity to get some use out of it! I would take a picture out in the snow, but unfortunately we didn't get all of the snow that a neighboring city got last weekend. It just missed us! So I may our holiday photo probably won't look exactly like the photo of the girl above with snow on her face.

I'm excited to send these cards out to our family and friends. With 50 cards, we'll probably be able to send one to practically every family member and close friend! We keep a tight-knit circle of friends and family.

Shutterfly also has other great holiday products, including:

and

I like the gift tags. Especially this snowman one. So cute.

Have you ever used a company like Shutterfly for your Christmas or Holiday cards? Or do you usually make your own cards from scratch?

1st Anniversary

It's our first anniversary. My how the time has flown by. A year ago today I married my best friend and the love of my life! We've had our ups and downs the past year but we've stuck through it together as husband and wife.

I may not have reached all of my goals like having our wedding album done by our first year or writing our wedding recaps on this blog by the end of our first year. But, I'm happy with what I have accomplished. My husband and I have done the entire C25K program and will be running 5K today together at our college (where we met). It's something we've worked hard at together and I'm proud of us. I've made many other lifestyle changes with his help too - like exercising daily and eating healthier. Sure, I'll get our wedding album done eventually. I'm not so sure about doing all of the recaps anymore but I'm thinking I might just do a recap with guest photos. I looked at all of our guest photos last night and I feel like in someways they tell the story better than the pro photos. They show our real emotions on that day because many of them are more candid.

To my husband. I love you and I feel blessed to have gone through the past year with you. I know there will be many more years to come. I still look up to you like this every single day:

Happy Anniversary my love!
